Court drama thrills

Lavinia Thompson returns to the crime of the scene

Yesterday, having nothing to achieve beyond booking my car in for an MOT and egged on by my brother who telephoned to recommend it, I spent most of my morning watching the Sky News coverage of the Oscar Pistorius trial, live from South Africa.

Well, I say ‘live’, but (according to the screen caption) it was on a 30-second delay, presumably for potential censorship of bad language or distressing images.

As my brother had predicted, state prosecutor Gerrie Nel’s continuing cross-examination of Pistorius made for thoroughly compelling viewing. There is no need for me to repeat, or attempt to improve upon, what is already reported in the cause of explaining why.
