Pargie’s sporting weekend

I haves been off the air these past weeks after my big win on Danny Willett at Wentworth.

Good to see the Sheffield slugger back to winning ways and nice few quid in my coffers. I duly noted Jeremy Chapman’s tips for the Spanish Open and the US PGA Shriners Children Hospital in Las Vegas without actioning them.

Two of them were Arai Arnous, the young Spaniard I have been tracking, and Patrick Cantlay – always worth a tickle. I backed them both after the first round. Cantlay finished 1st with Kevin Na but lost the play-off. Arnous finished fourth as Joe Rahm coasted it.

I did not fancy Enable in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and should have laid her but was recovering from my afternoon nap.

Enable was caught on the line by Waldgeist when Frankie Dettori went too early.

I fancied England to win handsomely v Argentina and went for 21-25 points at 7-1.

I was one of the few delighted by Farrell’s poor kicking but in the end the margin was bigger than my spread. It’s one of the most exciting England sides I can recall but I can’t see us beating the All Blacks.

About John Pargiter
