Rearranging the deck chairs

As the Six Nations squads for 2018 are announced this week, the ongoing issues for England’s Premiership clubs are not going away.

Hard on the heels of recent media coverage detailing the clubs’ financial travails – but one of them making an operational profit, Worcester Warriors some £3.5 million in debt and struggling to find a buyer, even Wasps (who had been thought to have fallen on their commercial feet via their move to the Ricoh Stadium) now rumoured to be tight for money despite somehow finding the wherewithal to sign current All Black fly-half squad member Lima Sopoaga within the salary cap – comes the news that relegation near-certainties London Irish are casting around for further investment in an attempt to stay in the hunt as demands for ‘ring fencing’ the Premiership (ending promotion and relegation) continue to grow:
