The Tanner Report: Fulham 6 Burton 0

I was going to title this “What do I know?” as when the line up was announced and I saw Cairney and Kamara were on the bench I feared another repeat of the dreary 1-1 draw of last season.

Instead in a terrific  team performance we defeated Burton 6-0. The injury list has lessened (only Floyd Ayite is out), we have too many loanees, the pathway for the Academy shouldn’t be blocked, Fonte and Kamara are scoring, so the imperative for a forward is now less in the window. The return of Lucas Piazon has made a huge difference as he can and does score from midfield but is an unselfish player.

Ivan wrote on the effect of inflated prices. I know the money that Chelsea want for their loanees Kalas and Piazon is unrealistic so they seem consigned to life on loan. After a troubled start at the club, Tim Ream is on top of his game. Our best player Ryan Sessegnon had a quiet first half but given he is left back it sums up his talented input that he is top scorer and netted twice yesterday.

The sixth goal was the best when Abou Kamara ran a third of the pitch and chipped the keeper.

He is only 22, must take time to adapt to another life and country. We fans need to be patient as this unpolished diamond is beginning to glitter.

About Alan Tanner

After a distinguished military service in the Catering Corps, Alan Tanner did well in mufti with his chamois as a window cleaner. Sadly he had to retire after falling from the fifth floor of Danny Murphy's mock Tudor home. He spends his retirement watching and writing about his beloved Fulham whom he has supported for over 50 years. The Alan Tanner Report is sponsored by Tanner Crystal Clear Ltd, Window Cleaners to the Gentry. More Posts
