The Tanner report: the Mo retort

Felix Magath gave a message to Fulham fans on the website. He began by praising us fulsomely probably to soften us up for the lowering of expectation to preserve his job. He stated that in a period of transformation the upper echelons of the championship were likely. Such transformation was necessary because of under-investment from the previous owner.

This produced a mighty retort from Mr al Fayed. It was quite a hatchet job that not only brought up the considerable successes achieved under his ownership but also gave Magath and Khan a lesson in fan and man management.

In a note to my Fulham fans I highlighted more the ceiling of our ambitions at the upper echelons of the  championship. A side contains 2 world  cup stars – Dejegah and Ruiz- 3 players who had already starred in the championship (Stockdale, Kacaniklic, Burn), a host of players good enough at his level and an bright academy would surely do better than this. No, Felix – the reason we cannot do better than the upper echelons is not al Fayed… It’s you.

About Alan Tanner

After a distinguished military service in the Catering Corps, Alan Tanner did well in mufti with his chamois as a window cleaner. Sadly he had to retire after falling from the fifth floor of Danny Murphy's mock Tudor home. He spends his retirement watching and writing about his beloved Fulham whom he has supported for over 50 years.
