(All together now): How do you solve a problem like Maria?

This organ’s stance of the use of performing-enhancing drugs in sports is a matter of long-standing record and after Abbie Boraston-Green’s piece yesterday on Maria Sharapova’s failed drugs test at the Australian Open we do not propose to follow the story’s developments on a blow-by-blow basis, largely because Rust readers will be able to do this for themselves without effort via the media in any event.

As a matter of editorial policy we prefer to major upon comment or opinion pieces from our contributors rather than direct reporting.

Nevertheless, it seems appropriate today to offer the following links to two articles spotted in the British press, in case our readers have either missed them and/or would appreciate the suggested material:

Jack de Menezes in – THE INDEPENDENT

Owen Gibson and Simon Cambers in – THE GUARDIAN
