Counting the cost
As everyone knows, the issues surrounding growing and/or being old are some of the most pressing for modern society – not least because of increasing human longevity and the attendant alleged under-shooting of actuarial projections as to how the potential costs to the taxpayer of prolonged heath care and pensions will be paid for.
Despite the eternal truth that nobody will ever survive old age, the world is full of advice as to how best to retain your marbles, spend your ‘grey £s’ and stay younger longer. It seems that maintaining one’s ‘quality of life’ is virtually all that matters these days.
