From Me To You

The title of being ‘the greatest band in popular music’ is a complicated one to award because – inevitably, at some point – subjectivity in the eyes of the beholder (or listener) comes into it: are we talking ‘empirically greatest’, or ‘my favourite ever’?

Maybe there’s a ‘degree of lasting (musical or cultural, or maybe both) influence’, or even a ‘my guilty pleasure’ consideration that needs that needs to be factored in.

Nevertheless, by any yardstick you can think of, The Beatles must be right up there at the top table featuring the all-time deities of pop/rock music.

For the benefit of Rust readers who might otherwise have missed it, here’s a link to a fascinating piece by David Rowley that appears today upon the website of – THE GUARDIAN
