The Tanner Report

The decision to sack Magath and replace him with Kit Symoms as temporary manager must have been received with 100% approval. However whether it restores our fortunes is open to question. Kit is an extremely likeable bloke, I have done his windows for years and he is a pleasant a footballer as I’ve met. He is a Fulham man and many of those youngsters now in the first team were his charges . He follows the traditions of Chris Coleman and Malcolm MacDonald, and before them Bill Dodgin, of playing and managing the club. All these are to his credit and the fact that Magath has gone will give the team and the club a lift. Against that Kit’s only experience of management was at Crystal Palace and those that know and like him doubt whether he is up to it, as opposed to up for it.

A name bandied about is Danny Murphy. One of Fulham’s great captains is an articulate analyst so may prefer a less stessful media career but again he has no track record of successful management . My choice would be Chris Hughton who has a promotion with Newcastle and play with Birmimgham notched on his belt and would restore harmony and direction.

About Alan Tanner

After a distinguished military service in the Catering Corps, Alan Tanner did well in mufti with his chamois as a window cleaner. Sadly he had to retire after falling from the fifth floor of Danny Murphy's mock Tudor home. He spends his retirement watching and writing about his beloved Fulham whom he has supported for over 50 years. The Alan Tanner Report is sponsored by Tanner Crystal Clear Ltd, Window Cleaners to the Gentry. More Posts
