The Tanner Report

Amongst the felling of Chelsea, Manchester City and Spurs, cup giants all, our spirited draw at Sunderland has been rather overlooked yet it was a great achievement. One of the features of recent months is that we have tightened up in the defence. Kit Symons maintains the same defensive  unit – Bettinelli, Stafylidis, Bodurov, Hutcheson and Grimmer-  every game. The two full backs may be replaced when Hoogland and Amorebieta are fit. Kit rested McCormack and Rodallega for Woodrow and Dembele. It was good – if not vital – that young Christensen returned  He is still young but integral. We might have won the  game when Rodallega struck the post in the 86th minute. So now we bring the Black Cats back to the Cottage on February 3rd for the replay.

We  are the only West London team left in the FA Cup which reminds me of the Europa Cup season when we were the only English side left in Europe. After such a dismal start of one point in 7 games, achieving the play-offs would be some achievement and personally I doubt it. It may be a blessing for the young side to find its feet as a foundation for promotion next season but we fans need a fillip too and what better one than a cup run?

About Alan Tanner

After a distinguished military service in the Catering Corps, Alan Tanner did well in mufti with his chamois as a window cleaner. Sadly he had to retire after falling from the fifth floor of Danny Murphy's mock Tudor home. He spends his retirement watching and writing about his beloved Fulham whom he has supported for over 50 years. The Alan Tanner Report is sponsored by Tanner Crystal Clear Ltd, Window Cleaners to the Gentry. More Posts
