England 33 New Zealand 19

Although England won comfortably I was not sure about their team but I’m here to talk about the All Blacks who are in transition. the so called experts say thete had never been a better time to play us and certainly we are now behind the Boks in the world order . I’m looking forward to the 4 test tour to South Africa next winter

I was there in Yokohama when England beat us 22-7 Most of the side and coach Steve Hansen have now moved on or retired Certainly we miss Brodie Reatallack. Seven time Super Championship winner Scott Robertson will in time prove himself a more than capable cosch and in Ardie Savea he possesses one of the best rugby players in the world alongside Antoine Dupont and Eben Etzebeth These days the best players are flexible in their positions and roles so Ardie could move to flanker to accomadation the excellent Peter Lakia. Rijbach looks à great scrum half too

‘In my day’ is a phrase you hear less often in rugby union than football. This may be because rugby is constantly evolving in regulation ,
tactic aand image. The All Blacks have been a constant but this said could some of their legendary hard men line Tane Norton , Billy Bush , Keith Murdoch controversially sent home in the Tour of the Home Nations play in today’s game? Surely they would spend more time off rarher then on the pitch? in my era we relied more on the high ball. Today you rarely see a Garry Owen though the side kick to the wing is more popular.

we are only a population of just under 5 Million and yet since time immemorial the ABs have produced winning teams and exceptional players

About Granite Grant Logan

‘Granite’ Grant Logan is covering the Rugby World Cup in Japan 2019 for us. Grant was a no holds barred lock for Hawkes Bay who took no quarter and expected none. Unfortunately his appearances in the All Black jersey were limited by the pre-eminence of Frank Oliver and Andy Haden. After hanging up his size 14 boots he became a highly respected coach and analyst. More Posts
