FA CUP LIVES ON

That strange British eccentricity’  hss allowed the FA Cup to live on despite weakened teams, moved kick off times and even days and overseas players and head coaches  little understanding its traditions. even giant killing has survived with Macclesfield betraying Premiership Crystal Palace Once Brentford , Bournemouth or Brighton beating Spurs would be considered giant-killing but no longer  There is the blessing of no VAR until the 5th round

Speakimg to Fulham’s Alan Tanner he found it surprising that the FA Cup is not taken more seriously :-

‘Realistically Fulham won’t  win the Championship and it will be tough to qualify for the Champions League. Thus à cup run is a great fillip for the fansand team  with  a final feasible.  For many years ghe 1975 Final v Wembley was our Greatest Day  and Alan Mullery leading out the team appeared on the Programme cover for a couple of seasons afterwards.

After we introduced the big guns from the bench we beat Middlesbrough but I don’t think they do t really want to risk their best players “

Yet the expression ‘cup tue atmosphere’  still lingers and the 3rd round of one of the most eagerly waited days in the football calendar
