A birthday celebration with a difference
Yesterday my sister-in-law turned 70 and her son and daughter organised a sort of This is Your Life on Zoom. Three month ago I had never heard of Zoom. If you include my Spanish class quiz and a couple of cocktail hour chats with friends, it is now becoming quite a feature of my life.
Yesterday’s gathering was scheduled for 8.30 pm. There was the normal difficulty usually experienced by one person of not getting heard although we could see and hear them. So the opening remarks were:
“I can’t get on, can anyone hear me, shall I leave?”
Eventually the person could be both seen and heard (the person managed to activate the all important ‘join with audio’ function) and we were off and running.
A sort of Powerpoint presentation chronicled my sister-in -law’s life from childhood to 70 and various friends and family from all over the world made their tributes. It was a most heart warming occasion.
