Brighton have now lost successively at the Amex to Manchester United and Liverpool.

Against Liverpool last night the Seagulls were 2 down within 9 minutes and I feared the worst.

In fact Brighton rallied, Leandro Trossard pulled one back before half time but a late Salah goal put the game beyond salvation.

Graeme Souness on SKY was hard on Graham Potter for his style of playing the ball out of defence.

Adam Webster, a ball-playing defender acquired from Bristol City, is preferred the no-nonsense Shane Duffy.

The full backs of which Tariq Lamptey, bought from Chelsea for only £3 million looks a fine young prospect, bomb forward.

Alan Tanner called after the game and said Fulham adopt much the same tactic of possession and passing in their own third. It’s a dangerous game.

Brighton’s performance was described as “spirited”.

What we lack in star quality we make up in esprit de corps.  That – more than anything else – should ensure another season in the Premiership.
