Brighton 0 Fulham 0

The visit of Fulham is always a highlight and of Alan Tanner too.

Sadly this game – like the goalless draw at Craven Cottage – did not live up to expectations.

Maybe there was too much at stake.

Brighton, without a home win all season, were concerned that Fulham might overhaul them and Fulham worried, with a resurgent Burnley, that clear blue sea would open between them and the Seagulls.

Brighton had much the better of the first half but as usual lacked finishing.

Fulham did better in the second half and nearly grabbed the winner.

Had they done so it would have reminded me of the game when Brighton were promoted winning against the run of play at the Cottage.

In the morning of the match my electrician dropped round. He has a season ticket at the Amex.

We both agreed Lewis Dunk has been Brighton’s best player the last 5 seasons.

He is two footed, quick, has a pass and pops up to score from set pieces.

When it comes to blocking he is the best in the division – and needed to be to clear Ruben Loftus Cheek’s shot off the line in the closing minutes.

I was impressed by Fulham’s defence but like us they need to get back the winning habit and three points instead of one.
