A la Colthard: K Hotel West and spa
The K hotel is located in that rather anonymous quarter Estate agents called Olympia Village between Shepherds Bish and Olympia. Its not an obvious place for a cool boutique hotel but for that K Hotel impressed. I went there for a day of spa and lunch treating my godson’s mother. It got off a to bad start when the staff greeted us poorly letting us hang round at the entrance . This is one of my bugbears: a bad greeting creates not just a poor first impression but sets a bad tone and taste . However we recovered as the spa area was impressive containing a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room , snow room and loads of comfy chairs to sit. Two had foot bowls and we sat with our feet immersed in them, like a couple of old biddies.
For lunch in the kanteen restaurant I ordered squid with chorizo,a tangy dish that worked well. My main grilled chicken with yoghourt and couscous was less of a success. The chicken was very dry and boring. Carol said her linguine and jumbo prawns were excellent followed by a tasty sticky toffee pudding. We had 2 glasses of sauvignon each. Spa and lunch is a good combination. Most who enjoyed the spa were still in bath robes for lunch which gave the impression more of a sanatorium if not asylum than a cool restaurant but we did not mind as we had a good old gossip about old flames .
I had a deal for both spa and lunch but judging by the cost of individual treatment the K hotel would be on the pricey side but sometimes we girls deserve pampering.
