An alternative ‘take’
In the last couple of days I have either listened to and read a number of appreciations that have resulted from the sad news of the death of Eric Bristow, the darts player, from a heart attack suffered at an event in Manchester.
On the Radio Five Live Up All Night programme – hosted by Dotun Adebayo – just after the news had broken, Mr Adebayo and his editors devoted an hour or more to encouraging viewers to ring in and relate their experiences of meeting Bristow and/or offer their own tributes to him. Many of the resulting contributions made for good listening: they were worthy, funny and even touching.
Overnight (early this morning) I spotted a piece on Bristow by Jonathan Liew, a quality writer whose output I always enjoy reading.
He left the Daily Telegraph a while back and after a short period then turned up on The Independent. Anyway – here’s a link to his slightly different view of Eric Bristow – THE INDEPENDENT
