Champions League Barcelona 1 PSG 4 (aggregate win 6-4)
I’m on a roll right now. Serious gamblers – unlike me – will often bemoan their bad luck but not see their good fortune, which I certainly enjoyed last night.
Barcelona were firm favourites so I was attracted to bet against them.
I did so when their winning odds dropped to 5/8 … then what happens?
Not only do PSG equalise but no nonsense referee Istvan Kovacs reduced Barca to 10 men by sending off Araijo
He also dished out 2 more red cards.
Unsurprisingly PSG scored 3 to put the match and tie well beyond Barça.
The diligent punter – again unlike me – would have noted that the fixture was not played in the Camp Nou, but in the Olympic Stadium, and that the referee would not be influenced by either the hostile home atmosphere or the antics of the Barca players and manager Xavi, but I can’t say I did that prep.
I merely followed the game and odds which, after the PSG second goal, made them firm favourites.
Can PSG win the Champions League?
I can see them beating Dortmund in the semis, but not the winner of Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final – that is unless, of course, Arsenal triumph over Bayern tonight and win their semi-final.
Whatever happens I will be watching the odds.
