Brighton 0 Wolves 1
A few weeks ago I predicted that – if Brighton’s goal drought continued – the Seagulls would descend into mid-table.
After this defeat Brighton extended their winless run to 12 matches and are in 13th place, closer to the bottom three than the top four.
Graham Potter had severe selection problems with 7 players unavailable because of Covid, injury and suspension.
Lewis Dunk, Adam Webstter, Neil Maupay, Pascal Gross, Shane Duffy may well have featured.
It meant that Joel Veltman and big Dan Burn took the central defensive berths in a back four flanked by Lamptey and Cucurella.
In midfield the four were March, Bissouma, Mwepu and Moder with Trossard and Connolly up front.
Wolves took the lead in extra time of the first half and I feared that Brighton would not score twice.
They might have immediately scored once but Mwepu missed a chance when the goal was gaping. We never had a better opportunity.
Brighton play Manchester. United away on Saturday and go to Chelsea before the year is out. In the second half of the season we play Liverpool and Manchester City away so its just as well we already have 20 points
