Brighton 4 Spurs 2

This was arguably Brighton’s best performance of the season , achieved with 10 players out through injury and after 26 games played.

Spurs, too, have many injuries but possess a deeper squad, the resources to replenish and less games played. So little excuse for them.

Danny Welbeck led the line and, although no longer a regular goal scorer, he links play well so responsibility for scoring falls on other shoulders.   Brighton’s 4 goals came from 2 penalties, another from midfielder Jack Hinshelwood from that well-known football family and a worldie from Pervis Estupinan.

Spurs scored 2 late goals and had dominated possession but playing with four full backs in their defensive line made them vulnerable.

They miss Romero, Micky van der Ven and, of course, James Maddison.

You can only admire Brighton, who had lost Graham Potter, his backroom staff and their best players but continue to compete both in the Premiership and Europa League.
