Brighton beached

It was the same old same old Brighton with little cutting edge. Only one league goal has come from a striker all season and Colunga and Baldock struggled up front. Colunga had an excellent chance in the first minute but scuffed his shot.  Blackpool were happy to let the seagulls come to them and catch them on the break. It’s now 3 games without a win and we need to get one desperately to get our season back on track.

After the game I called Alan Tanner. I had hoped that Kit Symons by his presence and Magath’s absence might spark a revival. Alan said there were encouraging signs but after Hutcheson’s dismissal on 45 minutes for a foul that put Willimason in hospital it was going to be uphill. No one expected to see Fulham bottom of the table with just the one point. I know there are many games to come and points to play for but for the season to be written off in September by a side that must have been confident of an immediate return is rather depressing.
