Cardiff Rugby 15 Harlequins 54

Cardiff Rugby, bottom of their Investec Challenge division, had little to play for and it showed.

They started brightly but soon the heft of the Quins scrum wore them out and Quins ran out easy winners.

The tribute to Welsh  legend JPR Williams was moving.

JPR was both brutal in the tackle and beautiful in the three quarter line.

He could have played in any team in any era. Possibly today he would be a centre as he was always versatile, once playing as flanker on a Lions tour of South Africa.

The match also marked Marcus Smith’s 150th appearance for Quins – quite something for someone relatively young.

Even though the pack is now far more resolute, Quins would not be Quins without some exciting play behind it.

This came from centre Oscar Beard who cut through to score.

Smith had a quieter game but scored one try and converted his first four attempts.

This was a good win but Quins look short in class compared to Toulouse
