Just in

Ciao from Florence

We had a more severe lockdown than you maybe because we Italians are not too good at respecting the law!

Messaging  my friends and colleagues on the National Rust, I understand  that at every level English lockdown is a matter of interpretation, usually in favour of the person deciding.

As with you, football returns on June 19th with daily matches not necessarily behind closed doors. The quarantine period is 7 days.

Fiorentina are mid-table with 30 points and the Scudetto will be decided between Juventus (64) and Lazio (63).

With little to do we honoured one of our best ever defenders, whom you will know, Daniel Passerella who turned 67 on 25th May.

El Gran Capitan played 139 games for Viola, joining us in 1982.

In those games before leaving us for Inter in 1986 he scored 35 goals, an extraordinary amount for a defender.

Although very hard he only weighed 70 kgs and after hanging up his boots he coached at club and international level.

He would make any all-time Fiorentina side.
