Djokovic triumphs
I was at Centre Court with one eye on the clock to get back for the Euro final.
Matteo Berrettini started promisingly but there was too much in the Novak Djokovic locker.
The Italian could offer pace and power but too often lost rallies to unforced error.
It was not a vintage final.
The greatest block to the Serbian’s victory was the crowd who once again were not on his side.
It’s an odd crowd too which for some reason collectively claps during challenges but whose main input is “Come on Matteo!” with the odd unfunny attempt at humour.
They also seem more obsessed by the presence of Tom Cruise than a player who now has 20 Majors, many more than the actor’s Oscars.
