Final thoughts: the hard facts

At The Rust we are not shy of dealing  in hard facts.

Therefore my assessment of the Euros final was that Italy were the better team and the three missed penalties were badly taken and not saved by great feats by Italian keeper Donnarumma.

Jack Grealish is a cocky player with a good strike, as has Mason Mount.

Neither on the list.

Do England practise penalties in match conditions as Germany do i.e. after 90 minutes/120 minutes play?

Do England have a dedicated penalty coach who can advise  on penalty striking and assess the opposition?

It seems not.

I do not buy the argument that this will be a winning side in 4 years. Germany are very good at regrouping, the Italians are relatively young, new players emerge and 22 year olds do not always become top class 26 year olds.

England missed their chance as well as penalties because the wrong players took them.
