Fiorentina file: Milan 1 Fiorentina 3
I see it as my role to report on my beloved Viola but I appreciate many readers prefer a more general update on Serie A.
So I will begin by saying this is the worst Milan side I have ever seen.
In the Berlusconi era, Milan fielded Gullit, Rijkaard, Van Basten, Baresi, Maldini, Donadoni, Shevchenko some of the greats of world football now under Elliot Management there is hardly one household name.
La Viola totally outplayed them and if Chiesa had scored his penalty it would have been 4-1. Even if Milan sack coach Giampaolo and replace him with Arsene Wenger as rumoured the squad requires a minimum investment of €250m.
One Fiorentina player who caught the eye was midfielder Castrovilli. An accomplished dancer he has beautiful feet and balance.
With Federico Chiesa we have 2 outstanding youngsters. Now we also have an owner in Rocco Commiso prepared to invest. We need a better goalkeeper and another defender.
One revelation is 36 year old Frank Ribery who once again had a marvellous game. He has perfect touch, works hard, can score.
If I had to make a comparison it would be with James Milner except Ribery is much more skilful.
Having played all those years with Bayern he has a winning mentality.
The future is bright, the future is Viola.
