Football finale

It’s the most exciting Premier finish in years but are the public really engaged?

High ticket prices, VAR – and the rarity of a key match on the traditional kick off time of 3 pm –  have all estranged the public.

In the week I saw my optometrist, a visit with his son and friend to Arsenal did not give him much change from a grand.

Like many it is the sofa for me and the match on the telly.

I preferred to watch England’s thrilling display against Ireland in the Six Nations to Brentford v Arsenal and am a big fan of the excitement and entertainment of Bazball.

In football it’s no longer about being a loyal fan – a club does not make enough money from one – but rather a consumer.

It’s about maximising revenue from the stadium but be careful: fans are not stupid and, if you estrange them, they may not come back.
