Golfing weekend
Jeremy Chapman refound his touch by tipping Kevin Kisner who won the Dean and Deluca invitational at Colonial and his pick Jordan Spieth finishing second. He also recommended Francesco Molinari who finished second to Alex Noren in the flagship event of the European PGA the BMW at Wentworth.
The Colonial was notable for the return to form of Jordan Spieth who lost his mojo at and after the 2016 Masters. Once the most formidable putter on the planet he lost his touch on the dance floor whilst his driving was wayward. His final round was one shot short of the always reliable Kisner but the young Texan is looking good for the next Major the US OPEN at Erin Hills in Wisconsin. The smart money will be on the younger Joe Rahm who finished runner up to Kisner.
Alex Noren who carded a record 62 was in the clubhouse for a good two hours but no one on the course could match his -11. Francesco Molinari is another consistent performer but one who never seems to win. I usually back him for a top five finish. The West course at Wentworth has been altered. It was regarded as too easy, then too difficult, but now just about right for a prestigious event with a winning prize of just under £900,000. No Rory Mcilroy and Sergio Garcia chose to play in the US PGA but a competitive enough field .
Like many I had Chelsea as cert for the Cup Final but we all called it wrong as after only a few minutes it was clear the Cup was going to North London and my money was going South.
