Grace/ITV 1
I do enjoy a TV drama of a Sunday evening and therefore appreciate Grace as it’s shot on location in my native city of Brighton.
Grave is is the creation of Peter James.
He has a close relationship with the Brighton Police who take him out in their patrol cars.
Superintendent Roy Grace (played by John Simm) leads a colourful team who use modern procedural methods for an investigation e.g. CCTV, phone records, credit car records and the internet.
On Sunday a ‘black widow’ who polishes off her rich husbands through snake venom is being tracked by a mafia hitman. It’s usually scary, violent stuff with Grace coming out on top.
There is also a back story as his first wife Sandy deserted him and moved to a Buddhist sanctuary in Munich. She appears regularly and Grace now has a new partner.
This provides a human interest, as does his relationship with the supercilious deputy County Constable.
At two hours it’s on the lengthy side but leads engaging.
