Harlequins 24 Bath Rugby 26
Quins lost this thrilling encounter in the dying embers of the game.
Whilst this is not the formidable Bath side of Gary Chilcott and Jeremy Guscott they are still an excellent team with the likes of Sam Underhill, Finn Russell and Ollie Lawrence well coached by South African Johan van Graan.
Quins’ performance was not significantly worse than that last week against Saracens. For 60 minutes they dominated. Only the heft of the burly Van Wyk against the lighter Marcus Smith on the line won the West Countrymen this match. If only Jack Kerringham had been the man on the line to make the tackle …
For Quins there were many positives, not least the debut of the dashing Argentine winger Rodrigo Isgrò who weighed in with 2 tries.
It was also good to see Alex Dombrandt back – somehow he holds the pack together. whilst Tyrone Green was his normal cavalier self with his dashing, weaving runs.
It was a great advertisement for Premiership rugby and – though disappointed – I enjoyed the match immensely and firmly believe that Quins will win more than they lose despite being in transition.
