Harlequins 31 Racing 28
Quins played out another thriller in this Heineken Cup victory over French aristocrats Racing. Most of the best players in global rugby are to be found in France and Racing had World Cup skipper Siya Kolisi in their side.
An interesting question in any elite sport team is whether the good club player can become an international regular.
This is particularly relevant in the case of Marcus Smith who was man of the match with a jinking try and drop goal.
Yet can he establish himself for England – with Owen Farrell excluding himself – over George Ford?
Finn Smith, who is available for either England or Scotland, of Northampton Saints is also fast acquiring a reputation and he is only 20.
Quins have quite a few in the reliable club bracket namely Alex Dombrandt, Caden Murley, Will Evans (who played a blinder yesterday) and Jack Walker, whilst I would categorise Danny Care as both international and club quality .
Aside from Sarries, British and Irish clubs acquitted themselves impressively in the Heineken Cup over the weekend and none more so than Quins, once again the comeback kings against quality opposition.
