Harlequins 35 Northampton Saints 29
The Premiership may be flawed, as Sandra McConnnell opined, but it does serve up great rugby… unless you are a Quins fan.
As against Saracens and Exeter Chiefs the last few minutes were nail-biting.
Quins’ 35 -15 lead had disappeared and one try and conversion would have won it for Saints.
This time Quins survived, won a turnover and Marcus Smith kicked the ball ball high into the stand. The BT Sport “Man of the Match” was Lennox Anyanwu but he may well have to give up his palace to the returning Andre Esterhuizen.
Both teams were well-matched.
Saints had Dan Biggar, the Welsh fly half, we had Marcus Smith the English counterpart.
Saints had Tommy Freeman on the wing we had Cadan Murley. Saints missed Courtney Lawes and we missed Alex Dombrandt.
Next week we were due to play Worcester Warriors but the game against Gloucester was postponed. So it’s likely that next Saturday’s match will have the same fate.
In a fortnight Quins play Leicester Tigers at the Stoop.
Sarries beat Tigers comfortably and have won every game to head the Premiership.
