Inter v PSG final
So it will be an Inter versus PSG final on May 31st in Munich.
PSG 2 Arsenal 1 last night did not scale the heights of Inter v Barcelona, which will surely be celebrated as one of the great encounters. Arsenal scorned early chances and how they must rue failing to buy a striker in the January window. Donnarumma, the PSG keeper, is so agile for a big man and defied the Gunners.
Arsenal have half a team missing (White, Gabriel, Jesus, Jorginho, Havertz) but – equally true – their semi-final European record is dismal. Close but no cigar.
Inter, by contrast, are proven winners. 37 year old Acerbi went up front for a late equaliser and Fratesi scored their winner in extra time.
They conceded 3 goals, which was unlike Inter, but their keeper Jan Sommer was man of the match. Two teams, like boxers, gave their all and Barca’s Lamine Yamal is a new star to admire for a few years. PSG under Luis Henrique have more esprit de corps than their predecessors and are a young side. It should be a wonderful final.
