Manchester City 1 Brighton 0
When teams like Brighton go to the Etihad it’s a question of damage limitation.
Burnley conceded 5 up there, Fulham 2, so limiting one of the best teams in Europe to just the one was a result.
The difference between the two clubs is the depth of resources.
Brighton were missing their best two players – Yves Bissouma and Tariq Lamptey – and had no like for like replacements whilst City had Raheem Sterling on the bench.
Once again Brighton had no cutting edge up front.
Graham Potter tried Percy Lau a South African on loan to Anderlrcht. On the rare occasions they got the ball to him he looked purposeful but never looked like scoring.
Neil Maupay has four goals, Alex Mcallister and Aaron Connolly two, Danny Welbeck one.
That and Potter’s tendency to make 4/5 changes every game are of great concern to the supporters.
