Masters’ Thoughts
We have now reached cut off day and Major winners Dustin Johnson, Brian Harman, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Wyndham Clark did not make the cut.
It was a day of high winds which conditions did not lend themselves to accuracy the most necessary component to master the Masters.
The smart money looks well laid on Scottie Scheffler who leads on -6 alongside Max Homa and Bryson DeChambeau.
The latter, now on the LIV circuit, changed all his clubs very recently, emphasising his philosophy that golf is more about physics than course management, touch and reliable putting.
With 2 more days to go Scheffler’s game, based on minimising errors, may take some holding.
Mention must also be made of Danny Willett, who has won the Masters, and is playing after recovery from a shoulder operation. He carded a 66 on the first day and is 8th on the Leaderboard.
Of course no coverage can either exclude Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy.
Tiger made the cut for the 24th consecutive tourney which is some achievement.
