Just in

My sporting Saturday

Although there was no breakfast match , the Southern Hemisphere game between South Africa and New Zealand, which ended 31-27, was worth waiting for.

I have already said the All Blacks are a work in progress under new Head Coach Scott Robertson – with no Brodie Retallack or Aaron Smith – but Ardie Savea is still there and players like Blackadder and Caleb Clarke wear the famous black jersey with distinction. The Boks too fielded a side with Eben Eztebeth on the bench and no Handré Pollard or Faf du Klerk. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (not a copywriter’s dream name) proved a capable replacement at fly half. The Boks were behind on the 67th minute but came back to win.

I also watched Brighton get a capable draw at the Emirates and now lead the Premiership, but what is going on at troubled Everton?

Two up in the 89th minute, they contrived to lose to Bournemouth 2-3. Ipswich drew 1-1 with Fulham for their first points of the campaign and I have a sneaking feeling they will avoid relegation.
