My sporting weekend

My only result this weekend was backing the Chilean prodigy Joaquin Niemann each way in the USPGA Rocket mortgage where the unknown Nate lashley ran away with his one.

The South African Christian Bezuidenhout won the Andalusian Masters which most expected the Sponsor Sergio Garcia to do.

Otherwise it was the cricket. Unwisely I bet against England before the toss. This proved to be the third game this weekend that the side batting first won and this is emerging as a clear trend.

India have shown weakness in a flabby middle order. Once you have got Virat Kohl out – no easy task – then you are into a softish batting line up and a long tail. Their tactics were perplexing as with wickets in hand they took singles rather then risk the boundaries needed once they fell behind in the run rate.

This week I would not write off Bangladesh or New Zealand. The former play India and Pakistan the latter England in Chester le Street.

With Jason Roy back and David Bairstow finding form after making some regrettable comments its looking more optimistic but the Black Caps will need to win too.

I had a long chat with Abbie Boraston-Green over Wimbledon. I fancy Novak Djokovic and at 8-1 might have a tickle on Serena Williams. She comebacks after pregnancy but she has all that experience.

Abbie fancies Angelique Kleber after seeing her at Eastbourne.
