My sporting weekend

Sam Burns  won the Charles Schwab US PGA at Colonial Texas and – in another play-off – Victor Perez bested Ryan Fox the Dutch Open.

I salvaged some self-respect and moolah with a each-way win on Davis Riley.

Riley came on the radar a few months ago.

He is a youngster who did well on the Kornferry circuit.

He finished high on the Leader board of the PGA, whose winner Scottie Scheffler contested the play off with Burns.

At the minute, the each-way odds are generous so Riley is a fruitful pick.

Two tourneys coming up are the US Open at Brookline and the increasingly ill-fated launch of the LIV Golf Series at Centurion, St Albans.

I thought that Liverpool were overrated in the market to beat Real Madrid and bet against their skinny odds to win.

Real Madrid won the key battles: Vinucius Jr v Diaz, Casomeri v Fabinho and their keeper Courtois was outstanding.

Most of all, the wily Carlo Ancelotti had the tactical mastery over Jurgen Klopp.
