Nice times

Michel de Vacri

It’s been such fun to see our friends from the Rust here.

Yesterday I took time out to watch France play a friendly against Spain which we lost 2-0. The game was noticeable for the use of video evidence which resulted in the referee disallowing a Griezmann goal and allowing a Spanish goal initially when the assistant referee flagged for offside.

I have seen two great French sides one led by Michel Platini in the eighties and other captained by Didier Deschamps (now the coach of Lea Bleus) which held at the same time, the World Cup and The Euros. Whilst this team may not achieve as much it has incredible strength in depth. Just look at who is not in the team; Payet, Benzema, Cyprien, Zouma,Martial, Lacarette, Giroud.

The sun is out here, the bay sparkles and we are awaiting the first round of the Presidential elections on April 23rd. Emmanuel Macron is heading the polls but at least a third of the electorate is undecided. The jewellers Cartier were held up in the Monte Carlo Casino. The Riviera always has a reputation for jewel thieves, remember the film To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly and con men Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Michael Caine, both featuring the Rothschild villa in Cap Ferrat. We always have a reputation for glamour too which la Daphne certainly lives up to.
