Nice update
Michel De Vacri
There was a possibility that yesterday if the results went our way OGM NIce would be top of the Ligue Une. Sadly league leaders Monaco beat Dijon 2-1 with a late goal from Falcoa though we won 3-1 over Nancy. We are certain of third place, the first such finish for 41 years , and the Champions League. It’s been a wonderful season, all the more remarkable as we lost our coach Claude Puel to Southampton and our top scorer Ben Arta to PSG. I suppose we are a bit like Tottenham or Southampton as we look to develop young talent.
Jamie and his mother have now left replaced by a glamorous celebrity actress friend of Monsieur Robert. We all loved Jamie for his good behaviour and wit. At the changing room in the swimming pool of the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat he managed to open his locker door with the correct code and then re-lock it with one he could not remember. An attendant was summoned. Jamie turned to an exasperated Robert and said
“Best to keep this one between ourselves or I could be in serous trouble.“
Last night the Rust party went to Petite Maison. Not only was the food and service excellent but it is such fun too with a strolling band of musicians and animated ambience. Robert was greeted warmly by the waiter Frank who recognised him from last year and we were given several limoncellos free.
Young Frank is now a estate agent during the week but Nicole the owner made a good move in recalling him for Friday and Saturday nights. The restaurant is so popular that at 21-30 I counted 9 people prepared to wait for a table. We were under no pressure to yield up ours in the long time to produce the bill the Limoincello flowed. No 2 hour reservation period here. Its one of the world’s, not just Nice’s, great restaurants.
