On having a good old age
One doesn’t like to get morbid about things unnecessarily – or perhaps at all – about the nature of old age and human mortality but sometimes it’s good to talk. Or at least face up to some of the realities. I don’t find the prospect daunting in the slightest. Some tough-ish things inevitably accompany the human condition and why should we not confront them by discussing them openly? I say that whilst acknowledging that – whilst it’s often ‘good to talk’ – it’s also sometimes good not to.
Anyway. Here’s a link to an interesting piece on longevity and death by the author Margaret Drabble that appears today on the website of – THE GUARDIAN
