Quins-watch: a case of making best use of one’s time

Sunday 2nd October 2016. Aviva Premiership – Wasps v Harlequins at Coventry. Result: Wasps 47 (5 points) Harlequins 18 (0 points).

Yesterday was a singular success. In weather more reminiscent of a July or August summer’s day rather than an October one, we had set up a family outing involving my cousins on the edge of Chichester Harbour in West Sussex. Once we had all gathering in one place we took a motor boat down the harbour and eventually up the Emsworth channel in the hope of spotting a colony of seals who have apparently made their home on one of the sandbanks.

For one reason or another said animals were nowhere to be seen – one theory that emerged from the gin and tonics-prompted all round bonhomie on board was that they had gone elsewhere because of the high tide. Nevertheless, our expedition was a splendid affair and thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.

Sadly, with BT Sport choosing not to broadcast live coverage of the above rugby match and the attractions of being upon the high seas being rather greater than those of staying indoors and trying to locate a local radio station commentary, thankfully I have absolutely nothing to offer Rust readers today on the latest catastrophic thrashing of the men in the quartered-coloured shirts.
