Just in

Reflections on the weekend’s football.

I have watched 3 games so far with varying degrees of enjoyment.

First up was Leeds v West Ham on Friday night.

John Pargiter called for my views which actually means he has decided his bet and wants my approval.

He felt Marcel Bielsa and his side were overhyped whilst David Moyes, after a managerial period in the doldrums, was getting things right at West Ham.

He was going to lay against firm favourites Leeds and I could see his logic.

I asked him if  closed doors football impacted on the betting market. He explained that viewers may be tempted to have a bet, especially club fans, but the lack of atmosphere increased the chances of an away win.  He was tempted to back against the favourite.

He was right here as West Ham ran out easy winners and are now fifth.

The Manchester derby was an exceptionally dull match though it needed someone like radio commentator Alan Greene to say so.

City have so many players worth watching like Kevin de Bruyne but yesterday their performance was lack lustre.

Whatever the board say about Ole Solskjaer’s job being safe there are financial repercussions about exiting the Champions League which  are significant and defeat to neighbours could topple him.

So United played safe and the two sides cancelled each other out.

My final game and the best so far was Everton’s victory over Chelsea.   I thought the visitors deserved a draw but the well organised Everton defence where Michael Keane was outstanding held out.
