The Heineken final – in which La Rochelle beat Leinster 24-21 – offered much better fare than the other final in Paris.
The rugby final was enthralling, reflecting and showcasing the superb state of French rugby.
Leinster under Stuart Lancaster are no mean side and led till the end.
La Rochelle stuck at it with a last minute winning try.
As for the Champions League final, the wily Carlo Ancelotti out-thought Jurgen Klopp.
It was Ancelotti’s fourth Champions League triumph and en route to Paris his team beat PSG, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.
Liverpool lost the midfield battle – Diaz was as ineffectual as Vinicius Junior integral – and after the first 20 minutes Real dominated and might well have led at half time.
Like the Euro final, the event was marred by unsavoury crowd scenes but rest assured it will not be Liverpool fans to blame – perhaps just the printer of the forged tickets?
