Sharks reach finals day

Sussex Sharks made easy work of beating Lancashire Lightning to reach the final.

Lancashire Lightning could not call upon Jos Buttler but still fielded T20 regulars Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone. When Ollie Robinson bowled Phil Salt (recently of the parish) first ball you felt this was Sussex Sharks’ night. Only Keaton Jennings and Liam Livingstone made serious runs and “Extras” were Lancashire’s third top scorer.

Lancashire were dismissed for 114 which the Sharks attained easily. It was good to see Jofra Archer back who took 2 wickets for 20 runs.

With Ollie Robinson, Tymal Mills the Sharks attack has genuine pace backed by the spin of Jack Carson and impressive all rounder James Coles.

Once again the fixture planners are being criticised as the final day on September 14 is sandwiched between the T20 games v Australia which will certainly impact on selection.

By close of season, however, Sussex may be celebrating both promotion and T20 success.

Much of this is due to Paul Farbrace who has recruited Daniel Hughes and John Simpson and broken in the youngsters capably.
