Sorted!
In these uncertain times – I’ve just finished reading a scaremongering article on a newspaper website suggesting that climate change will have made the world unfit for human existence by 2050 – those of us who have reached retirement age, or indeed by choice and/or force of circumstance have been obliged to throw ourselves on the workplace scrapheap before our time, are always on the look-out for what Minder’s Arthur Daley used to call “a nice little earner” with which to supplement our meagre (or indeed non-existent) pension incomes.
And make no mistake about it – such gems are not easy to find. If the Bible asserts that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, coming up fast on the rail in the list of pleasant things that might occur (but probably never will) in the cause of giving some of us a little bit of comfort in our declining years are the kind of brilliant and innovative business ideas that make US$1.5 billion profit for their originators practically overnight.
I know, because I’ve tried.
It is against that sad not to say depressing background that I can announce that, after approximately two decades of trying to come up with some wheeze which will enable me to live in the retirement style to which I would like to become accustomed, I seem finally to have cracked it.
For business confidentiality reasons that I hope my readers will understand I am unable to give more than the most rudimentary of explanations of my new business concept here, but suffice it to say that later this morning I shall be opening an account on eBay and putting in place a warehouse and delivery facility specifically designed to cope with what I expect to be a concerted rush to pick up a new product line that I shall be producing from the beginning of next week (Monday 3rd October).
Tomorrow I shall be buying 200 pairs of boxer shorts from the well-known high street retailer Marks and Spencer and going into a business that I am 100% confident will make me a billionaire by next March.
See here for an article by Kashmira Gander that appears today on the website of The Independent which gave me the inspiration for my new business idea – THE INDEPENDENT
