Sussex Sharks triumph
Sussex maintained their unbeaten record in the Vitality T20 with a 3 wicket, last over, victory last night over Middlesex.
Even without Chris Jordan and Jofra Archer on England duty we have a powerful T20 pace attack with Tymal Mills, Ollie Robinson, David Wiese and George Garton.
Spinners Will Beer and Danny Briggs got an outing and Bopsra at the end of his career which never flourished with the red ball at Test level is a more than useful all rounder.
It was South African David Wiese who guided the Sharks to victory with an unbeaten 75.
Such an attack means a longish tail and Sussex are not replete with prolific middle orders batters.
The problem is that youngsters like Delroy Rawlins and Harry Finch have to go for their shots and never really develop the defensive side of their game.
This reflects a division between the two formats. Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer can play both but some on duty last night for England v Pakistan do not look up to Test level.
Conversely Joe Root, one of the best Test batters on the planet, may well not be called up to the side.
If the Sharks have Chris Jordan and Jofra Archer they will go from very good to formidable.
I was very impressed by the Radio London commentary team of Isobella Westley and Adam Voges
Hopefully with the new boss man at the BBC Davie promising a broader spectrum, her obvious talent will not be stifled for failing to be diverse.
She has a great voice, was a President of the Oxford Union, and is well informed, witty and engaged. Isha Gura and Ebony Rainsford Smith are ubiquitously overexposed and there is room for Isobel Westley as a Test and white ball international commentator.
