The Baker Boy

Though some regard him as a ‘Marmite’ personality – I don’t subscribe to Twitter, but apparently late at night, possibly when somewhat ‘refreshed’, I’m told he sometimes makes a bit of a prat of himself when tweeting – the irrepressible and one-time stereotypical ‘Cockney lad ‘ broadcaster Danny Baker has spent the best part of three decades enlivening the radio airwaves of Great Britain.

Right now he can be heard regularly on the always-worth-catching  9.00am to 11.00am Saturday morning show on Radio Five Live on which as host he reigns supreme with his freewheeling chatter, loony phone-in topics (one last weekend was “Celebrities who have visited your house”) and the famous Sausage Sandwich Game … but frankly, sadly, that’s about it.

I hold my hand up – I’m a fan. For those Rusters who missed it – or indeed want to learn a bit about Mr Baker – here’s a link to an article by Alex Clark that appears today on the website of – THE GUARDIAN
