The Six Nations
The Six Nations continues to throw up surprises. England could not bounce back against Ireland , a resurgent Wales gave Scotland à close game with the Millennium Stadium in full song
Excuses can be made for the poor showing by England at Murrayfield last week ( losing Arundel for 40 minutes, Scottish pride in beating the auld enemy ) but these are harder to find against Ireland. After a good Autumn series England were amongst the favourites to win the 6 Nations but collapsed against an ageing Ireland. why so?
Critics are reluctant to be negative about Maru Itoje especially on his 100th appearance but for me he is an inadequate leader. Tommy Freeman for all his protests otherwise looks better at centre than on the wing and George Ford had another poor game.
Italy gave a good account of themselves again and will give England à hard game in the next round of matches. It looks like George Ford will be dropped for excessive tactical kicking but will it make a difference?
