The sporting weekend
When Stefan Johansen of Fulham moved in to shoot after Fulham went one up I stood up jubilantly. This was not because I wanted Fulham to win – though I did – but Alan predicted Fulham 2-0 with Johansen to score which was my bet. His shot went over the bar.
For the second week running Jeremy Chapman picked the winner in choosing Francesco Molinari for the flagship BMW event at Wentworth.
With Alex Noren and Branden Grace finishing in the top five it was a bumper weekend.
The only result I had at the USPGA tourney at Fort Worth was Joe Rahm but I was delighted to see Justin Rose win his ninth event, only one behind Sir Nick Faldo.
I am feeling more and more confident about the European Ryder Cup chances.
I can see Noren and Molinari making the team.
I was thinking of the parings for the first two days: Rahm/Garcia; McIroy/Casey; Rose/Poulter; Fleetwood/Hatton; and Stensen/Noren all of these look incredibly strong.
Across the pond Jordan Spieth and Brooks Koepka are not in the best of form. Bring it on!
